A night to remember as Shay completes a famous five

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who made the Weltch Media World-Wide Rebellion a night to remember!

Shay celebrates his historic win

Saturday evening's (19 September) race at the Mendips Raceway in Somerset saw Shay Murphy overcome major setbacks to fight his way to the front and become the first driver to win Rebels Racing's world championship title five times.

Seasoned observers described the race - being held in the South West of England for the first time in its 30-year history - as the most exciting Rebellion they could remember.

Shay qualified on pole position, but the incident-packed race saw him forced down the order, and facing the wrong way at one stage, only to regain the lead and survive a last-bend push by Jack Charlesworth, who held on to second place, ahead of Tom Rodgers.

"It was a sensational race and a truly memorable experience for Weltch Media and our guests on the night," said our Andy Weltch.

"I even got to fulfil a childhood ambition by joining the podium finishers on their lap of honour!

"We've been involved in motorsport for a very long time, and that has to be one of the most exciting races I've ever seen.

"We're very grateful to the wonderful people at Rebels Racing and Mendips Raceway for making it possible."

Our partnership with Rebels Racing is the latest chapter in our long involvement in motorsport, which has included working on publicity and promotional campaigns for promoters and drivers over many years.

We've helped leading Legends Car drivers in both the UK and Irish Championships, as well as working with Mendips Raceway to publicise the Formula 2 Stock Car World Championship final.

In recent years, we've teamed up with national hot rod driver, Mark Shelper in his races around the UK, and with race-winning teams in international sim-racing.

And this season, we're also working with Tom Sutton in the UK Oval Track Legends Championship.

Tom himself is a former Rebels racer and rookie of the year.
