The Tony award-winning musical comedy whodunnit Curtains, starring Jason Manford, is enjoying a successful tour of the UK. Our senior consultant Andrew Weltch reviewed the opening night of its week-long run at Cardiff’s New Theatre (Monday October 14th) for our companion hyperlocal news site, Rhiwbina Info, and described it as “high quality, feel-good entertainment, packed with catchy songs, spectacular dance routines, and genuinely laugh-out-loud gags". He added: "The mystery is also as intriguing as many straight whodunnits". Set in 1950s Boston, Manford plays Lieutenant Frank Cioffi investigating the murder of the unpopular star of a wild west musical just before its Broadway run. From the creators of Cabaret and Chicago, the show takes the audience backstage as we follow Cioffi’s investigation, uncovering a whole range of suspects. Curtains is in Cardiff until Saturday (October 19th), when it moves to Sheffield, Birmingham, Darlington, Belfast, Dartford, and Stoke-on-Trent, with further dates planned for 2020.
