The first stage production of the long-running TV crime show Midsomer Murders is now touring the UK.

Our award-winning hyperlocal website Rhiwbina Info was invited to review the opening night of its visit to Cardiff last night (Tuesday 31 March).

Reviewer Andy Weltch highlighted how it sometimes steers into darkly comic territory, and its cast of weird characters "wouldn't be out of place in The League of Gentlemen's Royston Vasey".

Praising the calibre of the cast and the creative team, he wrote: "This is very entertaining play, which will delight fans of the series, as well as anyone who enjoys a high-quality whodunnit".

Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badgers Drift is at Cardiff's New Theatre until Saturday (4 April), when the tour moves to Leicester.
