Introduction to Weltch Media
Weltch Media was founded in 2005 by former journalist and award-winning editor, Andy Weltch. Based in Cardiff, we provide our range of communications services to businesses and organisations of all sizes, as well as to individuals. We operate mainly in Wales and South West England, but we also have clients around the UK and overseas.
Meet The Team

Andy Weltch Senior Consultant
A former newspaper journalist, Andrew won national awards for his work in industrial corporate communications, and later specialised in the higher education sector. He manages most of our projects, providing leadership and hands-on expertise in editorial services, public relations, and training. He has written books and has been involved in several independent film projects. His interests include sport, film, theatre, and running (slowly). He is also concerned with housing and homelessness and is a voluntary trustee at the people and homes charity Shelter Cymru.

Mariclare Carey-Jones Broadcast & Training Consultant
An award-winning broadcast journalist and presenter, Mariclare has travelled the world covering stories of national and international importance for TV and radio. As well as running her own production company, Memorable Creative Journalism, she delivers our media training courses and produces corporate videos. A passionate campaigner for wildlife and conservation causes, she is also an ambassador for the Marie Curie Cardiff and Vale Hospice, which offers care and support for people with terminal illness.

Mark Hawkins Writer and Photographer
Mark has been a freelance writer and photographer since 2009.
Trading as Composed Communication and Composed Images, he has worked with universities and colleges, start-up technology businesses, recruitment consultancies and trade associations.
He has been a key part of Weltch Media’s team on a range of work including large-scale writing projects for universities and other clients.
His street photography book ‘Canton & Pontcanna’ was published by the History Press in 2018.

Sophie Platt Communications Assistant
Sophie provides support across a range of public relations and communications services and is an editor on our associate hyperlocal site Rhiwbina Info.
She graduated from Cardiff University in 2020 with a degree in Media and Communications. Her interests include the creative arts industry and film, and she is passionate about animals.
