Our co-sponsored rugby league player Kelsey Gentles has today [Friday May 7th] signed for York City Knights, again with Weltch Media sponsorship.
The 22-year-old England international winger is widely regarded as one the best players in the world, and she broke social media records with a sensational tackle for England against Australia in the 2019 World Cup Nines in Sydney.
The video clip gained more than 34.5 million views, making it the most viewed clip from the Facebook page of a sport’s national governing body from the UK in 2020. The RFL’s research also suggests that it may have been the most viewed clip of any female athlete globally in 2020 (apart from WWE).
Kelsey was Castleford Tigers’ top scorer in 2019 as the team claimed the League Leaders Shield and competed in the Challenge Cup Final and Grand Final.
Speaking about her signing, Kelsey said: “I’m really excited, the training facilities here are amazing. I’ve been on a journey with Castleford for the past five years and I’m really excited to try something new.
“There’s some really talented girls in that squad and they just need a bit of fine tuning. Let’s work together, have a cohesive bunch and I think we can win games and really put on a show in Super League. I can’t wait to get to training with them all.”

Kelsey could make her debut for Knights this Sunday [May 9th] against Wigan Warriors in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup.
