Blog post: Danni Wyatt reflects on an historic season

This season has been one that will stay with me forever.

To see the girls go and win the league, the Devon County Cup and the League Cup is honestly unbelievable.

A proper historic season for us and something everyone involved with Torquay United Women should be massively proud of. The standards, the togetherness and the mentality in this group have been incredible to watch.

On a personal level, it’s been one of the toughest years I’ve had. Injury, surgery and now rehab, and the hardest part being that I haven’t played a single minute this season.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I miss being out on that pitch. But even though I couldn’t contribute on it, I’ve tried my best to still play my part behind the scenes alongside Ryan Perks.

I can’t speak highly enough of Ryan and everything he’s done for this club. The care, time and effort he puts into the women’s side doesn’t go unnoticed, and I’m genuinely grateful to have worked alongside him this season.

I also have so much pride in Torquay United Football Club as a whole. The way the club has looked after us this season, backed the women’s team and helped create an environment where success feels possible has meant a lot to every one of us.

This season has made history, and everyone connected to it deserves huge credit.

I’ve got another review in a couple of weeks after a slight delay in rehab. Frustrating, I’m still down but not out.

The focus now is rebuilding the strength in my lower leg and hopefully getting myself back out on that pitch doing what I love most.
