Our Danni's on the road to recovery

We're so pleased to hear that our sponsored Torquay United Women's player Danni Wyatt has now had surgery on her long-term foot issue and is on the road to recovery.

Danni - whom we first sponsored in the 2017-18 season - has been sidelined this season because of the injury.

So, we were delighted to receive this positive update today [Monday 20 April], following her surgery last week:

"Over the past couple of years I’ve been dealing with an ongoing foot issue that started back when we were in the National League [2023-24 season in the fourth tier of the women's game]".

"What began as something manageable, gradually became more persistent, to the point where it was impacting my daily routine not just training and matches and ultimately led me to being sidelined for this entire season.

"After exploring different options and many attempts at conservative treatment, my consultant decided the only option next was surgery and we decided to go ahead with it.

"I've now had the operation to remove a calcaneal heel spur along with what’s called a Topaz procedure to treat the damaged tissue.

"Thankfully, everything went really well and as planned, which is such a huge positive after a long time dealing with it.

"It’s been frustrating watching from the sidelines this season, but having the surgery done now feels like a turning point. For the first time, it feels like a clear path forward. I’m looking forward to starting rehab and taking steps towards full fitness.

"The focus is on doing things right, being patient and coming back stronger."

Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the league and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.

Since being sidelined with injury, she has continued to be active – not least as a board member at the club.

In 2022, she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.

And back in 2020, she was among our friends who featured in the popular lockdown comedy promo video With a T.

As well as sponsoring Danni, we are the team's shorts sponsor this season.
