New book tells definitive account of the greatest rugby league tour

A new book tells the definitive story of rugby league’s greatest tour – and Weltch Media played a vital role.

The Indomitables - named after the aircraft carrier that transported the squad from Britain to Australia - is published to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the most revered touring team in British rugby league history and its remarkable achievements.

Lavishly illustrated with over 320 photographs, many of which have never been previous published, The Indomitables is the most comprehensive and authoritative account of the 1946 tour ever written.

The squad of 15 Englishmen and 11 Welshmen – playing as England, before the team’s name was changed to Great Britain for the subsequent Ashes series – sailed around the world just months after the end of the Second World War, in which many had fought, to play a gruelling itinerary of incredibly physical matches in front of sell-out crowds, and became sporting legends who won the respect of both Australia and New Zealand.
