Torquay United's women, playing with our logo on their shorts, took another step closer to promotion with a 5-2 win over Gloucester City at Plainmoor yesterday (Sunday 26 April).

The game was the highlight of a day-long women's football festival, and the result means unbeaten United need just one more win to secure the league title and promotion.

The Gulls are pushing for a place in the FA National League by finishing top of the South West Women's Regional League Premier Division, the fifth tier of the English game.

Torquay's scorers yesterday were Tee Kaptein (3), Matilda Franchi, and Jas Barker.

Our sponsored player Danni Wyatt, who's currently sidelined, told us: "Jimmy Ball [Torquay United men's manager] joined us, supporting from beside the dugout and offering invaluable guidance.

"Gloucester City proved every bit as strong as expected. a well-organised, quality footballing side.

"We held firm in the first half, but knew there was more to come and more goals to find after the break. Tee Kaptein delivered an outstanding performance in midfield, while Georgie Knott was instrumental throughout the afternoon.

"All in all, it was another brilliant showcase of women’s football at Plainmoor. The title is now within touching distance and these girls couldn’t deserve it more".

As well as being this season's shorts sponsor, we have been long-time sponsors of Danni Wyatt since the 2017/18 season. She has missed this season through injury, but is now on the road to recovery after surgery.
