A new publishing house has been launched in the US with the aim of “collecting, writing and preserving black culture”.

The Top Publishing Company, formed by brothers Alexander Xavier Free Garland and Vizier Kamau LuQamn, features in the latest post on our companion arts and entertainment blog, Piece of Pink Pie.

The company’s first book release tells Vizier’s own story, as a young black man who was diagnosed with stage four cancer days before his 18th birthday; and other forthcoming projects include a children’s chakra book series, illustrated by the family’s nieces and nephews and written by Alexander.

They also plan cookbooks, fine art collections, and music publishing too.
