Our Danni is a West Country winner

Huge congratulations to our sponsored Torquay United Women player Danni Wyatt, who was named a winner in the West Country Women Awards last night (Friday 28 November).

Danni received the Women in Sport Award at a glittering ceremony in Plymouth.

"I'm feeling super grateful and a little bit speechless," she said.

"I dedicate this special award to all my friends at Her Game Too, my football community and every woman and young girl with a dream.

"We aren’t done breaking barriers in women’s football yet, but we’re getting there."

The West Country Women Awards aim to celebrate and honour the achievements of women in the region, recognising their outstanding contributions to various fields and their positive impact on the community.

Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the league and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.

Danni is currently sidelined with injury, and she has missed the start of the South West League season but continues to be active – not least as a board member at the club.

In 2022, she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.
