Our animated short film A Fish Out of Water has risen to the top 1% of titles generating buzz on IMDb.

The latest MovieMeter rankings show our film in the top 80,000 out of more 11 million titles listed on the site. It has risen more than 60,000 places in the past week.

The IMDb MovieMeter measures the current popularity and public interest in movie titles each week by ranking every film in the IMDb database based on real-time user traffic, tracking how many people search for and view a specific movie page.

The film's producer Andy Weltch said: "There has clearly been a big surge in the buzz around our film since its release last week, but we never expected this much interest.

"It's not a measure of quality or even public approval, but for our little film to be in top 1% of searches and views feels like a phenomenal achievement".

IMDb has more than 200 million monthly visitors and more than 3 billion pageviews per month.

A Fish Out of Water is now classed as 'released', after having its first public screening last week, which means registered IMDb users can also now give the film a rating out of 10.

Animated and directed by Matthew Creed, the film is set in an alternative version of the 1890s and follows Henry Goldliman (voiced by Robert Daws), a 'chronicler of the extraordinary', who arrives in a small coastal town to hear the stories of three sailors, just back from a long voyage.

You can find out more and watch the trailer on the film's IMDb page.

We have submitted the film to several festivals over the coming months, and hope to hear news from the first of these in the next few weeks.
