Praise for our bite-size news-writing refresher

We've been sharing more of our expertise today (Tuesday 3 March), with a special online session for university communications and engagement specialists.

Our Andy Weltch was invited to offer his insights on news writing, as a bite-size refresher for the team at the University of Leicester.

In less than an hour, Andy covered the differences between internal and external audiences; understanding what makes news; and how to write news articles, press releases, and press statements; as well as thoughts on tone and style.

Liz Cass, the university's director of communications and engagement, said: "I enjoyed the session, and it gave the team a lot to think about."

It followed two half-day courses for the university's marketing team last December, which prompted comments such as: “Really great session – thank you!”, “Some great tips and takeaways”, and “Thank you so much for your expertise!”

We have worked with more than 20 universities around the UK, on public relations campaigns, publications, events, web content, and more.

And we're always keen to share our expertise and experience with clients in higher education and other areas. We have delivered projects in business, sport, and other sectors too, so if your organisation could use help with its communications, or if you'd like to find out about our tailored, expert training, we’d love to chat.
