Congratulations to our friends Torquay United Women and our sponsored player, Danni Wyatt, who edged closer to the league title and promotion with a 2-0 win at Warminster yesterday (Sunday 5 March).

Danni, who is also assistant manager, said: “Warminster held us well in the first half and we struggled to put away our chances.

“We made a change in formation at half time, and I was substituted on. It led us to open the scoring with Esme (Kilburn-Thompson) putting the first of the game in the net, and Tracey (Cross) sealed the three points with our second goal of the game with a lovely finish”.

Danni, still recovering from a knee injury, added: “I’m feeling fitter and better every game that goes on now which is a wonderful feeling! Glad to come away with the three points and a shot at the title still – it’s in our hands!”

Yesterday’s results leave Torquay still level with Bristol Rovers at the top of the South West Women’s Regional League, behind on goal difference, but with a game in hand.

The club has also announced that Torquay Women’s final home game of the season, vs Sherborne, will be played at Plainmoor, on Mothering Sunday, Sunday 19 March.

Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the South West Regional Premier Division and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.

Last season she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.

In 2020, she was among our friends who featured in the popular comedy promo video With a T.
