The Weltch Media logo is back on the race tracks for 2022 – featuring on the National Hot Rod of Bristol-based driver Mark Shelper.

Mark gave his Peugeot 206cc-bodied car its first outing of the season at Ipswich at the weekend (5 March), but was plagued by brake issues.

“We got the brakes better through the night,” said Mark. “In the second race, we were running second until contact sent us wide onto the dirty part of the track and we lost a lot of places. Our disappointing finishes in the heats meant we started at the back in the final – and that is really hard work!”

Now the team is hoping for better luck when the series visits Hednesford Raceway in the Midlands later this month.

National Hot Rods are the top level of short track racing in the UK and are regarded as the oval track equivalent of the British Touring Car Championship, with sophisticated production car replicas whose engines produce around 240bhp.

The team’s sponsors include The Injection Centre (diesel injection specialist), JB Racing Engines and Woodfield Stables. We will also be supporting Mark throughout the season and reporting on his progress here.

In the past we have supported Ben Power in the UK Legends Car Championship and James Holman in the Irish Championship. We’ve also backed James in several online iRacing events.

In 2018 we teamed up with Mendips Raceway to present the Weltch Media West of England Hot Rod Championship.
