What a weekend for our sponsored Torquay United player Danni Wyatt!
In her new role as assistant manager, she helped guide the women’s team to another victory in the push for promotion, and she was appointed the club’s #HerGameToo ambassador.
#HerGameToo is a non-profit organisation, aiming to create an ethos in football which sees women being welcomed and respected equally.
It focuses on building a more welcoming environment for young girls and women, as well as continuing to campaign against sexism and online abuse.
Danni’s appointment was announced ahead of the men’s game against Notts County on Saturday (4 February).
“I am delighted,” said Danni. “The campaign and the club are both incredibly important to me. For me, football really is a beautiful game for all.”
TUAFC partnered with #HerGameToo in November 2021, when the club became the first to offer an entire stand to the campaign, with 1,000 free tickets made available for women and girls.
And yesterday (Sunday 5 February), the women’s team won 2-0 at Ilminster Town, thanks to goals from Connie Pengelly and our former sponsored player Daisy Self.
Danni, in her second game as assistant manager, said: “The game was very tight. I’m super pleased with the win and three more points – we’re heading in the right direction and need to keep the momentum going.
“The league table looks great, but we aren’t done yet! Thank you to everyone who made the trip to Somerset yesterday and we hope to see more at our home fixture this week vs Liskeard for the first time this season.” 
Torquay is second in the South West Women’s Premier Division, one point behind Forest Green Rovers, but with three games in hand.
Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the South West Regional Premier Division and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award. Last season she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.
